Our story

Victory Italian is the latest establishment from the Victory Restaurant Group, founded by Chef Joe Farina and Anthony Gambino. Joining its sister restaurants Victory Tap and Victory Meat & Seafood, Victory Italian serves classic Italian dishes in the heart of Chicago’s River North neighborhood. The menu features Chef Farina’s signature dishes and handmade pastas, including his famous award-winning “Mama’s Meatballs,” classic brick chicken, the city’s best and largest parmesans, prime steaks and extraordinarily prepared seafood. It’s a true labor of love from Chef Farina, Chicago’s preeminent practitioner of Chicago-style Italian cuisine. He and his family learned to adapt classic Italian recipes to accommodate local ingredients – a tradition that Chef Joe brings to Victory Italian.

The restaurant’s design evokes the upscale taverns that served Italian-American food throughout 1920s and 1930s Chicago. The space incorporates a welcoming bar and lounge area which is surrounded by 200 seats in a large, two floor dining space.


Chef Joe Farina is known for delighting diners with finely tuned versions of the Italian classics that brought notoriety to Chicago’s Italian neighborhood restaurants. Utilizing the finest and freshest ingredients, Farina honors the Italian tradition of keeping it simple and letting the flavors shine through. 

Farina has honed his craft at some of Chicago’s most iconic restaurants, and is a mainstay and culinary personality on Chicago’s television and radio networks, as well as the area’s most prestigious “foodie” events, including Chicago Gourmet, Taste of Travel and The Grand Chef’s Experience. He was also awarded the Golden Rasher for Best Bacon Dish, People’s Choice at Chicago’s iconic Baconfest. In 2016, he opened the Victory Restaurant Group. His newest restaurant, Victory Italian, opened in August 2018.

Yvonne Farina

Yvonne Farina serves as the Director of Operations for Victory Italian, where she brings her passion for food and wine and her undeniable love for hospitality and the art of customer service. As Director of Operations she oversees the daily operations where she applies her expertise in management, budgeting, marketing, sommelier, public relations, purchasing, developing relationships, event planning and much more. She has been in the restaurant business for many years and considers her work a labor of passion. Prior to joining Victory Italian, Yvonne worked with some of the most legendary names in Chicago and has been at the forefront of operations for many iconic Italian restaurants over the last two decades.

A certified sommelier, Yvonne brings her passion for wine into her business. Chef Joe and Yvonne are longtime collaborators and recently married. After spending so many hours together, he found a way into Yvonne’s heart and they, as well as their restaurants, have no plans to slow down anytime soon.
